ABOUT US
- OUR HISTORY -
Aristocrat product was initially supported in South Africa by Africa Leisure. In 1998, this distributorship was bought out by Aristocrat Leisure Limited, an Australian based company with a global footprint in the gaming industry.
Trading under the name, Aristocrat Technologies Africa, the company continued to show growth, becoming the market leader in video gaming products.
On the 30th April 2016, Aristocrat Australia completed the sale of 100% of the local business in the form of a management buyout to umAfrika Holdings, a privately registered company in South Africa.

On the 1st May 2016, umAfrika Gaming Technologies, a subsidiary of umAfrika Holdings, began trading as a distributor of Aristocrat products in South Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Islands. In 2018, umAfrika signed a sole distributorship agreement with StylGame, an Italian based manufacturer of top quality chairs for the gambling market. In 2020 umAfrika signed an agreement with JCM Global, a leader in transaction technology, to provide support and services to the banking, retail, kiosk, vending and gambling industries. Founded in Japan in 1955, JCM has extended its reach with product representation on all continents around the world.
The choice of name “umAfrika” which means “African” in Zulu, allows the company to reflect on an entity that is not only 100% South African owned, but also majority black-owned, in line with Black Economic Empowerment policies imperative to businesses today.
